Anattā is the new album from avant-electronic composer Lorna Dune. While this album is ambient in nature, it demands your attention with cosmological and quantum questions of existence. Anattā is a conceptual story of the dissolving of the Ego into natural environments - a bio-electric swampland, a mighty river flowing to the vast ocean, then entering into the Ether where radio waves rip atoms apart as it expands infinitely into the Cosmos. Dimensions emerging from one horizontal plane where sound is light and light is sound, embracing inter-being and emptying of Self. Sounds are sculpted with analog synthesizers, collage loops, samples, and field recordings from Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge and the Green Mountain National Forest of Vermont. Thinking of her own body as a synthesizer, Lorna’s processed vocals blur where the voice ends and feedback begins.
